The Negev is a geographic area in Southern Israel, covering ~60% of the country’s area.
Local material
Negev soil is rich in clay. The clay component is “Mamshit”, a substance mined near the Nabataean city of Mamshit. The clay is produced at Yehu Clays in Yeruham.
Cladding
After the initial firing, the plates are hand painted with slipware and glazing. Afterward, they will go back to the electric kiln for another firing.

Firing process
The pieces are fired in an electric kiln, heated to 1200°C. The firing process goes on for 9 hours, after which the kiln will cool for several hours before the works can be removed.
